On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 4:39 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office executed a traffic stop at the intersection of 11th Street and Monroe Street, in Emmetsburg, on a 2004 Toyota Avalon, driven by Daniel Chism (44) of Cylinder. Following the traffic stop, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chism on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for contempt of court, willful violation of an order or decree of district court. According to a court order, Chism was ordered to serve a 30 day mittimus sentence in the Palo Alto County Jail and was ordered to turn himself in by August 27th, 2018, which he did not, resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for Chism. Subsequently, Chism was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to serve a 30 day mittimus sentence.
