On Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 5:04 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Emmetsburg Police Department with the execution of two arrest warrants at 601 Harrison Street. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ashley Moritz (39), of Emmetsburg, on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for theft 4th degree, which is a serious misdemeanor. The original charge stems from an investigation conducted by the Emmetsburg Police Department. Bond was set in the amount of $1,500.00 cash only. Ashley was transported, without incident, to the Palo Alto County Jail. Ashley was unable to post bond and was subsequently booked into jail to await her initial appearance before a magistrate.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
