On Monday, July 24, 2017, at 7:20 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s conducted a traffic stop in the 4400 block of 490th street on a 2001 Mercury Sable, driven by Brandy Chapman (32), of Webb, Iowa. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Chapman had a suspended driver’s license and a valid arrest warrant out of Buena Vista County for non payment of child support, which is an aggravated misdemeanor. There was no bond set for the warrant and required a 30 day mittimus sentence. Following the traffic stop, Chapman was issued a citation for driving while suspended. Chapman was then transported to the Buena Vista county line and turned over to Buena Vista county deputies.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
