On 8/19/2022 at 11:49 AM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call regarding a two vehicle, personal injury accident, that happened at the intersection of 380th Avenue and 480th Street. A 2007 Ford F-150, owned and operated by Anthony John Heiman, (46) of Ayrshire, was traveling east in the 3700 block of 480th Street. As Heiman reached the intersection of 480th Street and 380th Avenue, Heiman failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection. At the same time the Heiman vehicle entered the intersection, a 2006 Chevrolet Express G2500 Van, owned by AK Floor Coverings, LLC but driven by Kevin Allen Sheets, age 44 of Laurens, entered the intersection from the south. As the vehicles entered the intersection, the Heiman vehicle struck the Chevy Express Van driven by Sheets.
Following the contact, the Chevy Express van entered the west ditch area of 380th Avenue. After entering the ditch area, the van rolled before coming to rest on its wheels facing south. The Heiman vehicle entered the north ditch area of 480th Street.
Heiman was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital by ground ambulance to be treated for possible injuries. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Palo Alto County Health/Mercy One and Wickman’s Towing. The Heiman vehicle sustained an estimated $12,000 worth of damages and the van owned by AK Floor Coverings, LLC sustained an estimated $15,000 worth of damages.
The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending at this time.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
