Two Vehicle Accident

On 06/18/2020 at 6:35 P.M. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a two-vehicle injury accident in the 5100 block of 370th ST., Cylinder, Iowa. A 2001 Ford Taurus, owned and operated by Dale Reed of Emmetsburg, was west bound when it crossed the center line and collided with a tire on a 2730 Combination Ripper belonging to K. C. Nielsen of Algona, that was being hauled as an oversized load on a flat-bed semi-trailer. The semi was identified as a 1999 Peterbilt, owned and operated by Edward Phillips of Weatherford, Texas. The Peterbilt and driver of the semi reported no injuries or damage. The semi-trailer sustained minor damage estimated at $200.00. The Combination Ripper sustained damage to one of the wheels estimated at $1000.00. The Taurus was deemed a total loss. Dale reported minor injuries and was checked by EMS on scene and released. Dale was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Emmetsburg Fire Department, Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, and Wickman’s Towing. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank all of the citizens and passing motorist’s that stopped to assist and check on those involved in the accident.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
