Two Vehicle Accident

On 10/14/2019 at 07:57 a.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident in the 3400 block of 530th Avenue. Upon investigation it was determined that a white 2005 Ford F-250 driven by Kory Leonard Hagen of Emmetsburg and registered to Maple Hill Farms of Armstrong was southbound on 530th Avenue. Hagen was pulling a REM grain vac owned by Terry Naig of Cylinder. Hagen was struck from behind as he slowed to turn left onto 350th Street by a southbound blue 2007 Freightliner Classic driven by Cole Fredrick Wegener of Fenton and registered to TMK Farms Inc. of Fenton. Wegener was pulling a white 1993 Cornhusker trailer registered to TMK Farms Inc.

The impact caused the REM grain vac to come detached from the Ford. The REM grain vac came to rest on its side in the roadway. The Ford was forced into the west ditch were it came to rest. Hagen was transported to Palo Alto County Hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Damage to the Ford is estimated at $7,000.00 and the Rem grain vac is estimated at $15,000.00. Damage to the Freightliner is estimated at $8,000.00 and the Cornhusker trailer is estimated at $13,500.00.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Cylinder Fire Department and Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
