On 11/27/2018 at 3:07 p.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident with injuries which had taken place in the 3800 block of 360th Street. According to the investigation conducted at the scene by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, a 2010 Blue Bird school bus owned by the Ruthven/Ayrshire Community School district and driven by Joyce Marie Kreutner, age 67 of Ruthven, was traveling east on 360th Street and approaching the railroad crossing. Kreutner activated the emergency lighting on the school bus and came to a stop on the west side of the railroad crossing. A 2007 Volkswagen Touareg owned and driven by Brianna Rae Sanculi Guerra, age 36 of Ruthven, failed to notice that the school bus had come to a complete stop and made contact with the rear portion of the bus.
Damage to the Sanculi Guerra vehicle is deemed a total loss. The 2010 Blue Bird owned by the Ruthven/Ayrshire CSD is estimated at $12,000. Sanculi Guerra and Kreutner were transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital with undisclosed injuries by the Palo Alto County Health System. There were no students on the bus at the time of the accident.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Palo Alto County Ambulance and the Ruthven Fire Department.
The investigation is on-going by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
