On 10/15/2018 at 11:49 a.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle accident in the 4800 block of 460th Avenue. Upon investigation it was determined that a 2016 Ford F-250, driven by Aaron Benjamin Sullivan of Des Moines, was northbound on 460th Avenue when he fell asleep. The Ford crossed over into oncoming traffic and entered the west ditch, crossed over the driveway at 4815 460th Avenue causing the Ford to be airborne. The Ford landed in the ditch on the other side of the driveway striking a no passing zone sign before coming to rest in the ditch.
Two passengers in the Ford were transported to Palo Alto County Hospital by ambulance for treatment of injuries. Damage to the Ford is estimated at $10,000.00 and the damage to the sign is estimated at $500.00. Sullivan was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Mallard First Responders and Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
