At 12:00 a.m. on May 17, 2018, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a car accident in the 3500 block of North Huron Street near Emmetsburg. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined Daniel Thompson (15) of Emmetsburg was operating a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix when he lost control and struck a road sign. The vehicle then entered the west ditch and was airborne for a brief period of time.
Thompson was charged with failure to have a valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, and failure to provide proof of financial liability – accident related, all simple misdemeanors. Thompson and his two passengers were not injured in the crash. Damage to the 2002 Grand Prix was estimated at $2,500.
