On 01/26/2018 at 10:30 a.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi and trailer that had rolled over in the 3900 block of 370th Avenue. Upon investigation it was determined that a 2009 Peterbilt leased by Pro Cooperative and driven by Cody Aaron Moeller, 26, of Emmetsburg was hauling a 2015 Walinga trailer northbound on 370th Avenue when he lost control of the Peterbilt and entered the east ditch. The Peterbilt and trailer subsequently rolled onto its passenger side striking a utility pole owned by Mid-American Energy.
The Peterbilt and Walinga trailer were deemed a total loss. Damage to the utility pole is estimated at $5,000.00. No injuries were reported on scene. Moeller was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Ayrshire First Responders.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
