On January 25, 2018 at 8:15 am, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident in the 500-blk of N Van Gordan Ave, Graettinger.
A 2001 Peterbuilt Semi driven by Monte J. Schany of Graettinger was east bound on B-14 and went to make a right turn onto N Van Gordan Ave.
As Schany was attempting to make the right turn, a non contact vehicle was heading north on N Van Gordan Ave and pulled up to the stop sign at B-14. Which caused Schany to shorten his turn. As a result the right side of Schany’s trailer collided with a utility pole causing the pole to break off.
No injuries were reported at the scene and damage to the trailer was estimated at $ 300.00 and $1,500.00 to the utility pole and light.
Schany was issued a Citation for Unsafe Turn.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
