On 1/21/2018 at 4:05 p.m. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a collision between a semi-truck/trailer and a power line. According to the investigation conducted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, a 2009 Peterbilt truck owned by Pro Cooperative and driven by Cody Aaron Moeller, age 26 of Sac City, IA was hauling a 2015 Walinga trailer and was traveling west in the 3500 block of 340th Street. After stopping at the intersection of 340th Street and 350th Avenue, the unit turned south on 350th Avenue. As a result of a boom auger not being fully disengaged or in a safe traveling position on the trailer, the auger made contact with an overhead wire/cable owned by Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative. The cable sustained an estimated $500.00 worth of damages and the trailer/auger sustained an estimated $200.00 worth of damages.
Moeller was issued a citation for excessive height.
There were no reported injuries as a result of the collision.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
