On Monday, August 26, 2019, at 6:25 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a vehicle rollover in the 3400 block of 460th Avenue. Following the investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined that a 16 year old male juvenile, from Emmetsburg, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet S10 southbound in the 3400 block of 460th Avenue. The male failed to keep the truck on the roadway and subsequently drove onto the west shoulder. While trying to navigate the vehicle back onto the roadway, it caught the lip of the pavement and slid out of control. The vehicle then slid into the east ditch, where it rolled once and came to rest on it’s top. The driver and another passenger in the vehicle were able to exit the vehicle safely and no injuries were reported by either occupant.
There was an estimated $1,600.00 damage to the S10 vehicle. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office cited the male driver for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, which is a simple misdemeanor.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Emmetsburg Police Department and the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
