On Friday, June 01, 2018 at 4:04 p.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to the intersection of 310th Street and 470th Ave for a report of a semi-trailer roll-over. Upon investigation, it was determined that Joseph Joyce (77) of Emmetsburg was driving a 2016 Peterbilt 999, owned by Patrick Joyce, northbound in the 3100 Block of 470th Ave. As Joyce attempted to turn into the 4600 Block of 310th Street the rear axle of the trailer entered the ditch, which initiated a roll-over onto its driver’s side. Joyce was uninjured in the incident and estimated damages to the semi and trailer are $150,000, a total loss. Joyce was cited for failure to maintain control, a simple misdemeanor. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
