Semi Accident

On 4/20/2018 at 3:34 p.m., The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a semi rollover which occurred in the 5200 block of 370th Street. Upon an investigation into the accident, a 2016 Freightliner owned by M & M Express of Paullina, IA and driven by Ervin Harold Scott, age 62 of Sioux City, was traveling east on 370th Street and approaching a curve. Due to the speed of the vehicle in correlation with the traversing curve, the vehicle began to skid causing the unit(s) to cross the center line and continue to travel east. The semi and 2008 Great Dane Trailer continued to travel east and collided with two(2) traffic warning signs owned by the State of Iowa. The unit(s) entered the north ditch and overturned, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

Scott had to be extricated from the 2016 Freightliner and was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The semi and trailer were totalled in the accident as was 38,000 dozen eggs in the trailer.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Cylinder Fire Department, Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, Iowa Department of Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Mitch’s Towing Service and Wickman’s Towing. The accident continues to be investigated by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
