On November 20, 2019, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup from Wickman’s Auto Salvage near Emmetsburg, IA. As a result of an ongoing investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office obtained search warrants for the 2007 Chevrolet Pickup and a residence in Rodman, IA.
On January 10, 2020, deputies from the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the 5400 block of 430th Street near Rodman on the Stolen 2007 Chevrolet Pickup. Travis William Roberts (32) of Rodman, IA. was operating the pickup. As a result of the investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Roberts on possession of stolen property 1st Offense, a class C felony; possession of stolen property 2nd degree, a class D felony; possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; driving while suspended, a simple misdemeanor; fraudulent use of registration, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to provide proof of financial liability – no insurance, a simple misdemeanor.
Roberts was taken into custody and is being held in the Palo Alto County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond. Assisting the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation was the Algona Police Department, Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Emmetsburg Police Department, and the Palo Alto County Attorney’s Office.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
