On 11-7-2017 at 10:40 p.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to the intersection of 490th Street and 430th Avenue for a report of an unattended vehicle in the ditch. Following an investigation, it was determined that Patrick Lauderback (58) of Curlew, Ia was driving his 2003 GMC K1500 pickup westbound in the 4300 block of 490th Street when he attempted to turn north onto 430th Avenue. During the turn, the Lauderback vehicle suffered a hydraulic failure in the brake system causing it to proceed into the ditch, coming to an abrupt stop. Lauderback was later found at his home in Curlew, Ia. Patrick Lauderback was cited and released for Open Container, age 21 or above – simple misdemeanor and a Violation of a Restricted License – simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
