On June 24th, 2015, at approximately 6:40 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an assault that took place in the 4400 block of 460th Avenue. Following an investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined that Gabriel Sanculi, 38, of Ruthven assaulted and made threats to Palo Alto County Ambulance personnel while being treated and transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sanculi and transported him, without incident, to the Palo Alto County Jail. Sanculi was charged with assault on persons engaged in certain occupations and harassment in the 1st degree, both aggravated misdemeanors. Sanculi was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await his initial appearance before a magistrate.
On 6/23/2105 at approximately 11:25 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Wesley Jr. Marcum, age 30 of Graettinger, on valid Palo Alto County Warrant. The warrant issued 6/19/2015 for Violation of Probation stems from an original charge of OWI-2nd offense. Marcum was arrested in the 300 block of E Des Moines St in Graettinger. Marcum was transported, without incident, to the Palo Alto County Jail. Marcum was unable to post the cash or approved surety bond of $5000.00 and was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail to await his appearance before a magistrate.
On June 22, at 6:35am, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two vehicle accident in the 5100-Blk of 370 ave.
A 2010 Buick Lacrosse driven by Nancy J. Friedrich age 44 of Algona, was driving west on 370st, and decreased her speed due to the heavy rain and poor visiblity. At that time, another vehicle, a 1988 Chevy S10 driven by Garryl Householder age 78 of Algona, rear ended the Fredrich vehicle.
No injuries were reported and $600 damage to the Chevy and $900 damage to Buick
On 6-22-15, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle accident in the 200_Blk of Main, Cylinder. A 2001 F250 Ford driven by Colby J. Kraninger age 19, of Milford was driving south through Cylinder, when he collided with a tree which blew down as he was driving.
The Ford was deemed a total loss and no injuries reported.
Assisting at the scene was Cylinder Fire Department and Mid American.
On 06/16/2015 the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle accident in the 3000 block of 420th Avenue. The report indicated that a 2004 Freightliner driven by Duane Everett Ferguson Jr. of Hartley was southbound on 420th Avenue when he became distracted and struck the guardrail of the bridge. Damage to the 2014 Circle R side dump trailer is estimated at $2,500.00 and the estimated damage to the guardrail is $2,000.00. No injuries were reported.
On 6/10/2015 at approximately 9:25 p.m. , the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Mireles, age 24 of Algona, on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for Burglary 3rd Degree. The warrant for Burglary 3rd Degree is a Class D Felony and was issued on 6/3/2015. Mireles was transported from Kossuth County Authorities to the Palo Alto County Jail without incident. Mireles was unable to post the $10,000 cash only bond and placed in jail to await his appearance before the magistrate.
On 06/15/2015 the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a car /deer accident in the 4200 block of 280th Street. Upon investigation it was determined that an unidentified semi was eastbound on 280th Street when it struck a deer that had entered the roadway. The deer was subsequently thrown into the side of a westbound 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by Michael Lee Flaherty of Graettinger. Damage to the semi is unknown as the driver did not stop at the scene. Damage to the Chevy is estimated at $2,500.00.
On 6/15/2015, The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested, cited and released Michael Wallace Mitchell, age 59 of Ayrshire, on a charge of allowing an animal to run at large. This is a violation of City Municipal Ordinance 10.04 of the City of Ayrshire. Mitchell was cited to appear in Court on July 22nd, 2015 before a magistrate judge. Mitchell was arrested, cited and released without incident.
