One Vehicle Rollover

On October 21, 2015 at 2:33pm, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle rollover 4 miles southwest of Graettinger. A 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix driven by Walker A. Nelson (15) of Graettinger, was southbound in the 3100-blk of 440 Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle. Nelson left the roadway and collided with the west ditch, rolling one time and came to rest on its wheels.

Nelson and passenger Trey Johnson (16) of Wallingford were uninjured in the accident. The Pontiac was considered a total loss. Johnson was issued citations for Failure to Have a Valid License and Failure to Maintain Control.

Drug and Ongoing Criminal Conduct Arrest

On October 17, 2015, at 14:36 pm the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kelly Arlene Beightol (51) of Fort Dodge on a valid warrant out of Webster County. Charges include 6 counts of controlled substance violation, 1 count of ongoing criminal conduct-unlawful activity and 1 count failure to affix drug stamp.

Beightol was transported to Palo Alto County Jail where she was unable to post bond of $ 362,000 and was placed in jail awaiting transport to Webster County

Tax Evasion, Identity Theft, Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Arrest

On 10-16-15 at 8:37 pm the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Paul Martini (38) of Ruthven on a valid warrant out of Palo Alto County for: 2 counts of evasion of Iowa income tax, 4 counts of unauthorized use of credit card under $1000, and 4 counts of identity theft under $1000. He was transported without incident to the Palo Alto County Jail where he was unable to post the $10,000 cash or approved surety and was placed in jail to await his appearance before the judge.

Criminal Mischief, Trespassing and Public Intox Arrest

On 10/15/15 at approximately 3:45 A.M. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to a disturbance at 1105 Burns Street in Ayrshire. Following an investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Allan Michael Dean Schwidder (24) of Ayrshire on charges of 5th Degree Criminal Mischief, Trespassing, and Public Intoxication, all Simple Misdemeanors. Schwidder was also arrested on a valid Kossuth County Warrant for Contempt of Court on an original charge of theft. Following his arrest, Schwidder was placed in the Palo Alto County Jail to await his intial appearance before a judge.

Car Deer Accident

On 10/14/2015 at approximately 9:28 p.m., The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle accident in the 4600 block of 400th St. According to the investigation, a 2008 Toyota Tacoma, owned and driven by 62 yr. old Joseph Francis Neary, was westbound in the 4600 block of 400th St. A deer emerged from the north ditch and the Neary vehicle collided with it. Damage was estimated at $3500.00. There were no injuries at the time of the investigation.

Warrant and Driving While Suspended Arrest

On 10-14-2015 at 4:51 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26 year old Aaron P. Krusen of Mallard, on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for Contempt of Court for failing to appear on an original charge of driving while suspended. Krusen was also arrest on a new charge of driving while suspended in connection with this incident. The arrest was initiated after a traffic stop was conducted in Mallard on the vehicle Krusen was operating. Krusen was placed in jail.

Tractor Accident

On 10-13-2015 at 8:26 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a farm tractor accident in the 3500 block of 550 Ave. A 2006 Case IH STX 330, driven by 23 year old Serhii Sidelnyk of Whittemore, was south bound on the gravel when he steered to the right, over corrected to the left causing the tractor and the Houle 9500 manure tanker to veer across the road into the east ditch. The tractor continued through the ditch and struck some tress.
The tractor sustained extensive front end, hood and cab damage estimated at $90,000.00. The manure tanker was not damaged.
No injuries reported.
Sidelnyk was cited for failing to maintain control.

One Vehicle Rollover Accident

On 10/13/2015 at approximately 6:55 a.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a one vehicle accident in the 4700 block of 280th Street. Upon investigation it was determined that a green 2006 Chevy Silverado driven by Antonio Garcia Segura of Wallingford was eastbound on 280th Street when he approached a Case 4540 Floater owned by Max Yield Cooperative that was slowing to make a left hand turn into a field drive. Segura failed to reduce his speed in time and attempted to pass the Floater on the left. Segura lost control of his vehicle when he attempted to make the pass and entered the north ditch. The Segura vehicle slide sideways as it reentered the roadway. The Segura vehicle rolled once in the roadway and came to rest on the south side of the roadway.
The Segura vehicle was deemed a total loss. Segura was transported by private vehicle to Palo Alto County Hospital to be checked out for possible injuries. Segura was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.

One Vehicle Accident

On 10-12-15 at approximately 6:53 pm, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a one vehicle accident in the 3800 block of 300th St. A 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Hillary Rae Pico of Graettinger, was heading east and came up over a hill hitting a rut in the roadway. That along with the strong crosswind sent the vehicle into a fishtail where she lost control of the vehicle and ended up in the north ditch hitting the embankment. She was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital by private vehicle with non-incapacatating injuries. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5000.

Two Vehicle Accident

On 10-12-15 at 3:54 pm, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of South St. and Campbell St. in Ayrshire. A 2013 Dodge Ram pickup driven by James Carl Schmidt of Ayrshire, was heading east on South St. when the vehicle he was driving struck a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Avery Elizabeth Renee Ringlaben of Emmetsburg that was in the intersection.
Damage to the Schmidt vehicle was estimated at $1500 to the front and damage to the Ringlaben vehicle was estimated at $5000 to the passenger side. Ringlaben was cited for failure to yield to a vehicle on the right at an uncontrolled intersection. No injuries were reported at the scene.
