On 06/01/2018 at 2:31 p.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle deer accident in the 4400 block of 420th Street. Upon investigation it was determined that a 2008 Harley Davidson driven and owned by Kevin Lee Gilman, 59, of Emmetsburg was westbound on 420th Street when a deer emerged from the north ditch. Gilman struck the deer in the roadway. Following the impact, Gilman was thrown from the motorcycle coming to rest in the north ditch. The motorcycle entered the north ditch coming to rest in the ditch.
Gilman was transported Palo Alto County Hospital by the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service. Damage to the Harley Davidson is estimated at $12,000.00. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service.
