At 4:32 p.m. on March 3, 2018, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Blue 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup at 7th Street and Lake Street in Emmetsburg. A Palo Alto County Deputy observed the vehicle carelessly make a turn from Main Street on to Lake Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Jerry Baxter (37) of Emmetsburg was arrested for careless driving and driving while suspended, both simple misdemeanors. Baxter was transported to the Palo Alto County Jail and held to await his initial appearance in front of a judge.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
