Domestic Assault Arrests

On 09/29/2020 at 1:26 A.M. the Palo Alto County Communication’s center received a 911 call for a physical domestic fight in progress. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Deputies with the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the 300 block of S. Jackson Ave, Graettinger, Iowa. Upon completion of an investigation Joshua Claussen (35) and James Tatman (29), both of Graettinger, were placed under arrest. Claussen was charged with domestic abuse assault – 3rd or subsequent offense – a D felony, child endangerment – an aggravated misdemeanor, and criminal mischief 5th degree – a simple misdemeanor. Tatman was charged with domestic abuse assault resulting in bodily injury – a serious misdemeanor. Tatman and Claussen were both transported to the Palo Alto County Jail, and booked in to await their initial appearance before a Judge. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
