Controlled Substance Arrest and Search Warrant

On Saturday, September 16th, 2017, at 8:28 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reference to a disturbance at 208 2nd Street, Curlew, Iowa. Following an investigation into the complaint, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Nelson (48), of Swea City on a valid Palo Alto County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of possession of controlled substance- methamphetamine and possession of controlled substance- marijuana. Bond was set in the amount of $5,000.00 cash only. Nelson was transported, without incident, to the Palo Alto County Jail. Nelson was unable to post bond and was subsequently booked into jail to await his initial appearance before a magistrate.

Subsequent to the arrest of Michael Nelson, a search warrant was obtained and executed at 208 2nd Street, Curlew, Iowa. Additional charges are pending in reference to the outcome of the executed search warrant.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
