On 9/13/2021 at 2:30 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office charged Kelly Jo Swanson, age 59 of Mason City, with the Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution, a Class D Felony. Swanson was being booked into the Palo Alto County Jail on unrelated charges at the time of her offense. Swanson was held at the Palo Alto County Jail until her initial appearance before a magistrate judge.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
