At 12:01 a.m. on December 19, 2017, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a car deer accident in the 4500 block of 545th Avenue. Fred Wirtz (58) of West Bend, was headed south on 545th Avenue when a deer exited the east ditch and struck the front of his 2011 Ford Super Duty. Damage to Wirtz’s pickup was estimated at $1,000 and no injuries were reported.
