On 4/24/2019 at 8:50 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle deer collision that occurred in the 3900 block of 280th Street. Upon an investigation, it was determined that a 2011 Ford Taurus owned by the State of Iowa-Iowa State University but driven by Lisa Kay Berkland, age 51 of Ruthven, was westbound on 280th Street. While traveling, a deer emerged from the south ditch area of the roadway and onto the traveled portion. The Berkland vehicle made contact with the deer causing an estimated $3000.00 worth of damages. There were no reports of injuries from the collision.
