On Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 01:47 am, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of shots being fired at a vehicle at the intersection of 460th Avenue and 420th Street. Christian Eberle (20), of Albert City, Ia. reported that a vehicle, later identified as a white 2002 Buick Lesabre, was following him and fired numerous rounds into his vehicle, a black 2006 Dodge Charger, while Eberle was turning west onto 420th Street. Eberle reported that one of the bullets that was fired had struck him. Eberle provided a description of the vehicle, which was then stopped by the Spencer Police Department a short time later.
During the investigation into the incident, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office collected numerous items of evidence, which led to the issuance of several search warrants. Following the investigation and collection of evidence, arrest warrants were issued for Garret Wasson (18), of Spencer, Ia. and Konner Mills (18), of Ayrshire, Ia. Wasson and Mills were arrested at a residence in Spencer, Ia. at 2:00 p.m. with the cooperation of the Spencer Police Department, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
Wasson and Mills were each charged with Attempted Murder, which is a class B felony and Going Armed with Intent, which is a class D felony. Bond was set at $250,000.00 cash only for each. Both subjects are currently in the Palo Alto County Jail.
Investigation into the incident continues and further charges are pending.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
