On September 17, 2020, at 10:19 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a semi car accident in the 300-block of Amin Street in Cylinder, IA. Upon investigation it was determined a 2018 Toyota Rav4, owned and operated by Marie Wheaton (71) of Algona, IA., was northbound in Cylinder when she crossed into the path of a southbound 2004 International semi-tractor trailer owned by Great Lakes Concrete Inc. of Spencer, IA., operated by James Tackett (50) of Milford, IA. The Wheaton vehicle stuck the driver’s side front rear axle of the trailer.
Damage to the Wheaton vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Damage to the trailer was estimated at $2,500. No injuries were reported at the scene and charges are pending.
Assisting the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Cylinder Fire Department, Palo Alto County Hospital Ambulance Service, and Wickman Towing.
