On 6/19/2020 at 02:10 a.m., The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi tractor and trailer that were in the ditch. The location of the accident was said to have occurred at the intersection of 480th Avenue and 280th Street. As a result of the investigation conducted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that a 2019 Kenworth tractor pulling a 2019 Pacer feed trailer was traveling west on 280th St and slowing for a right turn onto 480th Avenue. The semi was operated by Carlos Manuel Naite, age 34 of Sioux City. As Naite turned right, the attached trailer entered the northeast ditch causing the load to shift. Consequently, the trailer and tractor rolled and came to rest on the passenger side of both units. Naite was checked on scene by medical personnel. Naite was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Graettinger Fire and Rescue, the Palo Alto County Health System and Mitch’s Towing.
