On 07/22/2019 at 2:15 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle injury accident that occurred in the 5300 block 310th St., Cylinder, Iowa. Following the investigation it was determined that Carma Wiita (72) of Cylinder, Iowa was operating a 2008 Chevy Silverado east bound in the 5300 block 310th St. when, due to a medical condition, lost control of the vehicle. Wiita swerved to avoid striking a bridge guardrail head on, and in doing so side swiped the guardrail causing her vehicle to turn and slide into the south ditch, roll one time and came to rest on its wheels.
Wiita was able to exit the vehicle and call 911. Wiita reported minor injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital by the Fenton Ambulance. The vehicle was deemed a total loss.
