Accident

On 5/28/2019 at 2:41 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi-tractor and trailer in the ditch located at the intersection of 310th St and 490th Avenue. Upon an investigation conducted at the scene by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, a 2013 Peterbilt pulling a 2019 trailer, owned by Hinz Trucking of Elm Creek, NE., but driven by Lyndell D Hanson, age 66 of Mankato, KS, was stopped at the intersection of 310th St and 490th Avenue. As Hanson attempted to turn south on 490th Avenue with the extended length of both units, the trailer dropped off the traveled portion of the roadway and down the ditch embankment. The weight of the cargo on the trailer caused it to roll over in the ditch area with the semi/tractor leaning in the roadway on the passenger side tires.
Damage was estimated for both units and the cargo at $75,000 dollars. Damage was estimated at $100.00 for the traffic control device struck by the trailer and cargo. There were no reported injuries as a result of the accident. Hanson was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
