Accident

On 10/18/2021 at 5:28 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office located a vehicle that was just involved in an accident. According to the investigation conducted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’ s Office, a 2015 Ford F550 Super Duty with a cement pumper unit in tow, owned by Bremik LLC of Algona, IA., was traveling west in the 4900 block of 370th Street. Quelub Isiah Heidelberg, age 19 of Algona, driver of the vehicle, advised he fell asleep while operating the vehicle. As a result, the Ford F550 made contact with the bridge guard rail and Heidelberg took evasive action which resulted in the vehicle and tow unit to lose control. After crossing the centerline of the undivided highway, the vehicle and tow unit entered the north ditch and the Ford F550 rolled onto its top and continued until coming to rest on its wheels. The concrete pumper also came to rest in the ditch to the south of the Ford F550. Estimated damages to the vehicle and included construction equipment are $80,000.

Heidelberg was medically observed at the scene by the Palo Alto County Health System. Heidelberg was issued citations for Failure to Maintain Control and Fail to use safety belt when required. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Palo Alto County Health System, the Emmetsburg Fire Department, the Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa Department of Transportation and Whittemore Truck and Trailer.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
