On Monday, July 5, 2021, at 1:20 a.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a single motor vehicle accident in the 3400 block of 480th Street. After investigation, it was determined 2001 Chevrolet K1500 pickup was travelling eastbound on 480th Street when the vehicle entered the north ditch. The vehicle would then strike a farm driveway, go airborne over the driveway, and come to rest in the north ditch. A 16 year old driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, sustained possible injuries. The driver was transported to the Pocahontas Community Hospital by the Pocahontas Community Ambulance Service with possible injuries.
The 2001 Chevrolet pickup was deemed a total loss. The investigation into the accident remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending. Assisting the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Pocahontas Community Ambulance Service and Wickman Towing.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
