On Sunday, February 14th, 2021, at 10:48 am, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a traffic accident in the 4700 block of 280th Street. Following the investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined that Morgan Hellyer, (19) of Graettinger, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala eastbound in the 4700 block of 280th Street. Hellyer’s vehicle drove onto the south shoulder of the roadway and as Hellyer attempted to drive the vehicle back onto the roadway, lost control. Hellyer’s vehicle slid sideways into the north ditch and came to rest in the deep snow. Hellyer’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500.00 in damage to the back passenger side door, passenger side mirror, and front bumper. Hellyer and a second passenger did not sustain any injuries in the accident. Morgan Hellyer was issued a citation for failure to maintain control, which is a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
