On 08-24-16 at 7:01am, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two vehicle accident 4 miles southeast of Ruthven at the intersection of 380Ave & 370St. A 1999 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Cameron Brown (16) of Ruthven was east bound in the 3700-Blk of 370 St. when Brown was unable to stop at the stop sign at 380 Ave, due to brake issues and drove through the intersection of 380 ave, colliding with a 2015 Toyota Prius driven by Kathy Irlbeck (60) of Dedham, IA, which was south bound on 380Ave.
After the intial collision the Ford proceeded straight across the intersection and stopped east of the intersection on 370St. The Toyota spun and entered the east dich and came to rest south of the intersection.
Damage to the Ford was estimated at $2,000 dollars and $5,400 to the Toyota. No injuries were reported in the accident. Brown was cited for Failure to Obey the Stop Sign, in connection with the accident.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
