On Monday, June 13, 2022, at 12:29 pm, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of North Cameron Avenue, Graettinger. Following the investigation, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined that Rhonda Chrestiansen (85) of Estherville was stopped in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, facing east, at the intersection of Olive Street and North Cameron. Chrestiansen left the stop sign heading east and failed to see a northbound 2017 Honda Pilot, driven by James Alger (80) of Spirit Lake. The front of Chrestiansen’s vehicle struck the driver’s side rear of Alger’s vehicle, causing Alger’s vehicle to spin and come to rest in the intersection.
There were only minor injuries sustained in the accident. There was an estimated $3,000.00 done to Chrestiansen’s vehicle and an estimated $3,000.00 done to Alger’s vehicle. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office cited Rhonda Chrestiansen with fail to obey stop sign and yield to the right of way, which is a simple misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
