On 4/21/2022 at 8:34 p.m., the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle, personal injury and property damage accident. The accident occurred in the 4100 block of 360th Street. According to the investigation conducted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, a 2003 Ford F150, owned and driven by Shane Michael Girres, age 37 of Graettinger, was traveling west on 360th Street and crossed the center line, making contact with an eastbound 2019 Peterbilt accompanied with a 2021 Pola trailer in tow owned by Anthony P & L Inc of Le Mars and driven by Sebastian Case Holzman, age 29 of Spencer. The Girres vehicle continued to travel west on 360th Street until a portion of the vehicle made contact with the road shoulder causing the vehicle to turn and roll over 180 degrees coming to rest on a portion of the frame of the truck. The 2019 Peterbilt continued to travel east crossing the center line of the roadway before entering the north ditch.
Girres was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital with undisclosed injuries while Holzman was treated by medical personnel at the scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Emmetsburg Police Department, the Iowa State Patrol, the Emmetsburg Fire Department, the Palo Alto County Health System, Wickman’s Towing, Stockton Towing (Le Mars) and the Iowa Department of Transportation (Maintenance Division).
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
