Sheriff’s Office Changes

PERMITS TO CARRY AND PERMITS TO ACQUIRE
Per Governor’s Reynolds State Public Health Declaration dated 3-20-2020, acceptance of applications will be accepted in the following manners without involving in-person interactions and through the mail. We will accomplish this in either of the following processes:
1. Acceptance by mail. Completed form can be mailed to the Sheriff’s Office along with a color copy of the applicants Iowa Driver’s License or Identification card. A copy of the applicants training certificate; if required to provide, and the fee for requested permit. Fee can be paid by cash or check when sending through the mail.
2. Applications can be completed in the Sheriff’s Office lobby and pictures of the application, training and ID will be taken by the Sheriff’s Office staff to limit any personal contact.
3. Permits will only be accepted Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. when the Office Manager is in the building.
4. The only payment allowed when completing the application in the Sheriff’s Office will be made by credit/debit card with a receipt being emailed to the applicant if requested.
5. Permits to carry will not expire during this Proclamation which will terminate on April 16, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. unless sooner terminated or extended. For this reason, no permits to carry will be issued for reasons of expiration only. 3-20-2020
CIVIL SERVICE DOCUMENTS
All documents that need to be served upon individuals have to be mailed or emailed to the Sheriff’s Office. No in person drop off of documents is accepted.
OCCUPATIONAL FINGERPRINTING
Occupational fingerprinting is suspended. This suspension will continue until current contamination concerns are alleviated.
INMATE VISITATION
All inmate visitation is suspended. This suspension will continue until current contamination concerns are alleviated. No cash for inmate commissary will be accepted in person. Funds can be paid by debit/credit card with a receipt being emailed to the applicant if requested.
