On April 27, 2019, at 01:45, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 3800 block of 400th Avenue. It was reported that a vehicle, later identified as a 2009 GMC Sierra, was stuck in the ditch and the driver of the vehicle was attempted to get it out. Upon arrival of the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was found to be unoccupied. During the investigation into the accident, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office determined that Jeremy Galvin (25) of Ruthven was driving the vehicle northbound in the 3800 block of 400th Avenue. Galvin was using his electronic communications device and lost control of the vehicle, driving it into the west ditch, coming to rest in the soft mud at the bottom of the ditch. Galvin then left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. The accident is currently still under investigation and charges are pending.
