On 04/02/2019 at 5:42 a.m. the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi in the ditch in the 3600 block of 360th Street. Upon investigation it was determined that a 2010 International hauling a 2019 livestock trailer was eastbound on 360th Street. According to the driver, Rhys Connor Nehman of Everly, a vehicle in front of him began to brake which caused him to have to brake. This action forced the livestock trailer to swing around, jackknifing the semi and trailer. The International and trailer came to rest in the north ditch.
Damage to the International and trailer is estimated at $20,000.00 and no injuries were reported. Nehman was issued a citation for Following too Close. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Iowa State Patrol.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
